PERMANENT EYELINER

Permanent eyeliner is a cosmetic procedure that enhances the eyes by depositing pigment in the upper or lower eyelid. This method is a perfect solution for people who want to save time and effort in applying eyeliner daily. It also helps to improve the appearance of light-colored or missing lashes.

The pigment used is very different from body tattooing ink and is only deposited on the first layer of skin. These industry-specific inks are designed to fade over time, which is why they are “semi-permanent.” The addition of an orange pigment prevents the color from changing from black to blue, although the saturation or intensity of your eyeliner will decrease over time.

Briana currently offers the following styles for permanent eyeliner:

  • The most natural look of the three, this lash enhancement creates a delicate, invisible line. It’s the ideal style for people looking for a very soft look.

  • This style starts at the first lash in the inner corner and ends with the last lash at the outer corner of the eye without a prominent wing. This is also perfect for anyone who wants to change their eyeliner tails daily.

  • The boldest of styles. The size and shape are tweaked to your preference with consideration for what looks best for your eye shape.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Limit sun exposure and tanning services in the days leading up to your appointment. If your skin is sunburnt, you can not get tattooed. Stop the use of blood thinning medication at least 1 day prior (this includes, but is not limited to, Aspirin, Advil, Aleve, Naproxen, Vit E, Tumeric and Fish Oil).

Remove any lash extension before your appointment, and do not re-apply until 2 weeks after your touch-up.

    • DAY OF APPOINTMENT: No alcohol at least 24 hours before your appointment. No caffeine on the morning of your appointment
7 DAYS BEFORE APPOINTMENT: Discontinue use of any lash or growth serum at least 1 week prior, longer is better

2 WEEKS BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT: No lash lifts or tints. No skincare additives such as retinol, Vitamin C, glycolic acid, other AHAs/BHAs, niacinamide, and other brightening products.

    • 4 WEEKS BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT: No chemical peels, microneedling, exfoliations, or other facial treatments

If you have an active eye infection such as a stye, blepharitis, conjunctivitis, or others, you can not get tattooed until the area has been treated and cleared by your doctor.

  • I use a pre-numbing cream for all eyeliner services as well as a topical anesthetic after the first pass of pigment to desensitize the area. The first pass is typically a little more uncomfortable because the skin hasn’t been broken for the numbing cream to penetrate as deeply. Once the second numbing gel is applied, clients usually say they can’t feel anything.

  • I currently offer my services in black and blue, but be on the lookout for a possible expansion of options soon!

  • You’ll need to take your contact lenses out before your appointment. Depending on your skin’s sensitivity, your eyes may be tender after the procedure. You can begin wearing contacts again once this subsides.

  • I give all clients an aftercare guide with instructions on caring for their eyeliner during the healing process. You can read more about the aftercare process below.

  • Permanent eyeliner can last anywhere from 2-4 years. Age, body chemistry, individual skin type, and lifestyle affect how long the color lasts. Your tattoo is an investment and will require continued care. Anti-aging products, exfoliation treatments, and sun or UV exposure will lighten your tattoo.

Yearly touch-ups are recommended to achieve the best results.

  • I use a tattoo machine to deposit the pigment on your lash line.

WHAT HER CLIENTS ARE SAYING

THE HEALING PROCESS

Each person's body heals differently. Your fresh tattoo may appear light at first. As your skin continues healing, the color will bloom and become more visible. The true color of your new tattoo will be best viewed around six weeks after your appointment. This is a two-step process. Any light or patchy areas will be addressed at your touch-up appointment. In a few cases, additional sessions are necessary to achieve your desired results.

DAY OF TREATMENT

Eyes may appear red and swollen and may last 1-2 days (For most, it will appear as though you have cried) A cold pack may be applied for up to 10 mins to ease any discomfort.

DAYS 2-10

• Keep the area dry and avoid excessive amounts of water, including sweating from exercise.
• Do not apply any eye makeup, cleansers, lotions/creams, or ointments for this period.
• You may see some scabbing, flaking, and peeling. This can appear like mascara flakes or stuck on eyelash glue. Do not pick or scratch the area. Picking can lead to loss of color and definition.
